Post Christmas

December 30, 2011

Finished the ham and my daughter’s pecan pie today. Brisket was finished a couple of days ago and most of the other dishes. Still have some Christmas cookies left, and some chocolate covered nuts, and a lot of new memories. The memories are the best of all. They stay the longest and make me feel the best. Christmas dinner was at my house, with my children, their spouses and three grandchildren under the age of five. Parts were hectic with the grandchildren, but it always calmed down as they played quietly or let someone read them a story, before long it was nap time. For the children and the adults. A big meal leads to a quick nap for adults as well as children. As usual, we say that we won’t do as much next year, we will try to make it easier and more simple. But the laugher and thanks as everyone opened their presents, and satisfaction as we all ate our food and talked together tells me somehow we probably will do it all the same again next year.
